SEAFORD, NY — All Seaford Middle School students have been given laptops, making it the first school in the district to have full participation in the 1:1 technology initiative. HP laptops were handed out to more than 160 sixth-graders Thursday that can be used in the classroom or at home, the district said in a news release.

Each sixth grader also received a stylus and a charger. The devices will allow students to take notes, use word-processing and digital presentation programs, and participate in interactive review games such as Kahoot and Quizlet.

Thomas Lynch, executive director for instructional technology and science, technology, engineering and mathematics, said the laptops also help students organize their classwork and provides an additional communication tool for teachers and students. Sixth-graders specifically will gain access to content in electronic textbooks for math and science.
