Seventh Precinct to Dispose of Medications
Hospitals, police will accept old or unwanted medicines.

Residents looking to get rid of old or unwanted medications can drop them off Saturday at the in Seaford and at 7140 Republic Airport in East Farmingdale.
Several hospitals will also collect the unused drugs.
The safe-disposal program is meant to prevent accidental overdose or misuse of prescription or over-the-counter medications.

The local project is part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Hours are between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
From the beginning of 2011 until August, 19 Nassau County residents died as a direct result of opiate drug misuse, according to County Executive Ed Mangano, who said the Nassau County Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force has met with State Senator Jack Martins, R-Mineola, and State Assemblyman Edward Ra, R-Franklin Square, to discuss ways to further combat the growing epidemic of prescription drug misuse and abuse.

“The statistics are startling,” Mangano said. “It’s a multi-pronged problem requiring a multi-pronged approach to fix. I look forward to partnering with our state officials in this fight. Together, we can ultimately save lives.”
