Town Of Hempstead Starts Quality-Of-Life Task Force To Clean Up Area
The task force, comprised of highway and sanitation workers, will address graffiti and unwanted advertisements in the communities.

MERRICK, NY — In an effort to address widespread graffiti and littering, the Town of Hempstead is creating a Quality-of-Life Task Force.
The group will be tasked with special projects related to the removal of illegal advertisements and other unsightly distractions.
"The Town of Hempstead is the best place to live, work and raise a family, and the
Town Board and I are committed to beautifying our township to further enhance the suburban
quality-of-life enjoyed by residents," Supervisor Don Clavin said. “This is exactly what the Quality-of-Life Task Force will accomplish, keeping our neighborhoods clean and pristine."

The task force workers from the Highway and Sanitation Departments, who are equipped with the necessary tools needed to remove unwanted advertisements and graffiti. They will also be proactively removing the signage from utility poles.
Residents with recommendations for the task force are asked to email the council member who represents the area of the project.

"The amount of signs in our neighborhoods [has] increased dramatically and it’s a result from Albany’s soft-on-crime bail reform. Enough is enough," Councilman Chris Carini said.
