Wantagh Pride On Display For Warrior's Homecoming
The community came out to support the Warriors and show their love for Wantagh.
It was a day of pride as the Wantagh community gathered for the district’s annual homecoming festivities on Sept. 29. Fun-filled activities started with a Friday afternoon pep rally, during which the sports teams and homecoming court were introduced. Students throughout the district also displayed their Warrior pride by wearing black and gold clothing and sports jerseys.
Prior to the Saturday game against Plainedge, board game-themed class floats were led down Wantagh Avenue to the football field in a parade that included the marching band, cheerleaders and members of the Wantagh Board of Education and Central Administration.
The wind ensemble trombone quartet led the community in the national anthem. During the halftime show, the cheerleaders and dance team motivated the already upbeat fans and the marching band gave a flawless performance of “Innovation” and “Seven Nation Army” under the direction of Dan Aviles. Seniors Arianna Benedetto and Carlo Tobia were then crowned homecoming queen and king to the delight of the crowd, with Diana Putrino and Michael Conti as first runners-up and Casey O’Connor as second runner-up.
