WANTAGH, NY — Children in Wantagh, Seaford and across America poured back into classrooms for the first day of school this week. Bright yellow buses filled with backpack-toting students lined up Tuesday at schools in the Wantagh School District and Seaford Union Free School District.
Many entered the buildings with smiles on their faces and greeted teachers to start the new school year. John McNamara, the superintendent of Wantagh schools, said he was happy with the district's smooth opening.
"The faculty and students were enthusiastic about the new school year and instruction began immediately," he said in a news release. "I am confident that 2019-2020 will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students."
