Warming Centers Created in Nassau Ahead of Nor'Easter

Warming centers established in Long Beach, Bethpage, Freeport, Hicksville, and Glen Cove.

Several warming centers, including one in Long Beach, will be established as a Nor’Easter moves through the Long Island area.

With power outages possible as high winds and frigid temperatures approach, five warming centers will be created in Nassau County.

In addition to warming centers, Nassau’s Emergency Shelter Relief Program will be activated for the winter.

WARMBED, the county’s homeless hotline, will operate daily through March 31, 2015 and will be extended if winter temperatures persist. Employees will help find placement at shelters, where those who are homeless can find resources for permanent housing.

The hotline is open 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday. It will also be open throughout the weekends from 6 p.m. Fridays to 8 a.m. Mondays. The number is 1-866-927-6233 (1-866- WARMBED).
