Washington Avenue Park
This neighborhood park offers sports, exercise, play and plenty of shade.
At age 16 I moved from New Jersey to Seaford to live with my aunt at her house that was located right off Washington Avenue. While I passed Washington Avenue Park many times over the years, I never stopped by to check it out until recently. After my visit I was really impressed with how much this neighborhood hot spot has to offer.
Upon entering the left gate of this Nassau County-owned park, I noticed tons of oak trees and lots of shade. With four acres of natural beauty, this was already what a park should be. There are two playgrounds that accommodate every age and a swing set that included baby and youth sized swings. It also provides signs stating the appropriate age for that area.
The park also has two sunken baseball/softball fields that not only look professional but are kept clean. Rather than playing on dirt fields the park has newly installed artificial turf infields, heathy grass in the outfield. There are also bleachers for fans to enjoy the many little league baseball and softball games held at Washington Avenue Park from spring to fall.

One of my favorite areas of the park was the health trail. It is a bonus to have this service and I suggest people take advantage of the exercise trail because it is free and there is nothing better than breathing in fresh air and working out among nature.
The paths throughout the park lead people to every section and there are plenty of benches to sit on if you want to rest. Bathrooms are available as well. There is a parking lot on the east side of the park but you can also enter at the west gate by foot.

All in all, Washington Avenue Park is a great place for parents to go to with their children to see a little league game, exercise, take nature walks or just sit and read a book. With so many activities available this Seaford park definitely falls under the "Best Parks" category for me. Let's all appreciate what our neighborhood has to offer because it's spots like this we will never forget.
