WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-IWNOOD, NY — Halloween is no longer a one-night affair. Whether you're looking for a trick-or-treating alternative or you just want to extend the Halloween fun, Washington Heights and Inwood have free and low-cost events for all ages. So grab your costume(s) and check out these spooktacular events:
Neighborhood Halloween Party at 5030 Broadway
The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance is throwing a Halloween Party to ring in Halloween weekend. Local Jiménez and Carlos Jesus Martinez Dominuez will off hands-on arts experiences such as a printmaking workshop for children.

Other events include trick-or-treating, face-painting and balloon art. Plus, there will be a live DJ spinning tunes.

Fall Fest at Sherman Shriek! Park
The New York Restoration Project will be celebrating Halloween by throwing a fall celebration Tuesday afternoon. The event will take place in Sherman Creek Park by the intersection of Dyckman Street and 10th Avenue.
Activities include pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, face painting, booths and stands from local organizations, according to the NYRP. Partygoers are also treated to free candy and cider.
Halloween Costume Party
Bruce's Garden — a community garden located inside Inwood's Isham Park — will host a costume party on the day of Halloween. The party starts at 3 p.m. and will run about three hours, giving you plenty of time to go trick-or-treating afterwards.
The garden is named in honor of Bruce Reynolds, an Inwood police officer killed while rescuing people from the World Trade Center in 9/11.
Washington Heights Halloween Parade
Ditch the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade this year and check out this family-friendly version in Washington Heights. For the past 11 years families have been marching in the neighborhood and showing off their great costumes.
The parade begins at PS 187 on Cabrini Boulevard and ends in Fort Tryon park.
Inwood Pumpkin Pageant 2017
Who says Halloween fun has to end in October? Swing by Isham Park the day after Halloween to check out the best jack-o'-lanterns in the neighborhood.
Jack-o'-lanterns will be placed on display and illuminated starting at dusk, according to event organizers. Anyone attending the pageant will be able to vote on their favorite designs and prize ribbons will be handed out to a number of great designs. After the event the pumpkins won't go to waste, instead they will be composted.
