74-Year-Old Mugged At Gunpoint In His Apartment Building: Cops

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 74-year-old man was mugged at gunpoint last month when two men followed him into his apartment building, police said.

The two men followed the 74-year-old into his apartment building near Audubon Avenue and West 188th Street just after midnight on May 23, police said.

One of the men, wearing a black hooded jacket and face mask, then put a gun to the man's head and demanded he hand over his property, police said.

The second man, wearing a blue jacket and face mask, put a gun to the man's back and took his cell phone, $300 in cash and two necklaces. They both ran away from the building toward Audubon Avenue, police said.

The victim was not injured form the incident.

Police said both suspects appeared to be in their late 20s. The first was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black hoodie, dark sweatpants and a surgical face mask. The second suspect was last seen wearing a blue jacket, gray sweatshirt, dark pants, and a face mask.

Photos of the men were taken from surveillance video of them entering the apartment building.
