Beloved Grandpa's Pizza In Inwood Gets Burglarized: Owner

The burglar forced open the door and stole money from the register, according to an employee of the pizzeria.

INWOOD, NY — A popular pizzeria in Inwood was burglarized late Tuesday night, according to the restaurant.

Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza near 4973 Broadway posted on its Facebook page Thursday to share the news.

"We are saddened to report that we experienced a robbery late Tuesday night at Grandpa's Brick Over Pizza," the restaurant wrote on Facebook. "We share this to inform our neighbors and fellow business owners to stay safe, and be vigilant when it comes to crime in our community."

Grandpa's Pizza security camera caught the burglary in live time, and the restaurant shared pictures from the footage on its Facebook page. You can see those photos here.

Alex, an employee at Grandpa's Pizza, told Patch that the burglar forced open the door by slamming on it before walking to the cash register and stealing the money inside.

Ownership of the restaurant reported the incident to the police, and an investigation is ongoing.

NYPD did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
