Washington Heights Crash Leaves Bronx Driver Dead, Police Say
Police said the driver struck the median on the ramp near Amsterdam Avenue early Monday and died at a hospital.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 60-year-old Bronx man died early Monday after a crash on the Trans-Manhattan Expressway ramp near Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights, according to the NYPD.
Police said the crash was reported at about 3:45 a.m. at Amsterdam Avenue and the Trans-Manhattan Expressway.
According to the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad, a 2015 black Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on the Trans-Manhattan Expressway when the driver failed to navigate the roadway and struck the center median on the ramp from Interstate 95 toward the split for southbound Harlem River Drive and Amsterdam Avenue.

EMS took the driver to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The NYPD identified him as Jose Soriano, age 60.
Police did not release additional details about what may have led to the crash.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
