Carmen De La Rosa Wins Uncontested Wash Heights Assembly Seat
De La Rosa has held the Uptown Manhattan Assembly seat since 2016.
UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Assembly Member Carmen De La Rosa will remain the representative for the 72nd Assembly District after running uncontested on Tuesday night.
De La Rosa has held the position since 2016, before which she worked as the Chief of Staff to Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez. Before her work in Rodriguez's office, she began her career with NY Assembly Member Daniel O'Donnell.
The 72nd District stretches from around West 155th Street to Marble Hill, and includes parts of Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood.

De La Rosa lives in Inwood and currently serves on the Banking, Corrections, Corporations, Authorities & Commissions, Housing, and Mental Health Committees.

She is also a member of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus, Legislative Women's Caucus, and the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force.
De La Rosa recently played a role in establishing a nine-day early voting period in New York City before the Nov. 3 election.
"I am honored to be a part of a state that opens new opportunities for all. This past legislative session I had the pleasure of fighting for and securing new voting reforms in Albany," De La Rosa said in a news release. "The historic opportunity to vote early in the State of New York will now allow a multitude of individuals to have more substantial time to make sure their voices are heard."
