Ceremony For Renovations At Highbridge Park Playground: Photos
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Tuesday morning for new renovations at the Adventure Playground in Highbridge Park.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Politicians, park leaders, and community organizers on Tuesday helped unveil renovations to the Adventure Playground in Highbridge Park in a socially distant ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Washington Heights park, near West 164th Street and Edgecombe Avenue, now features a spray shower, game tables, a synthetic turf play area, and new plantings.
The transformation for added fun was part of a two-phase investment into the park through the Anchor Parks initiative, which is still ongoing.

Mayor Bill de Blasio launched the initiative in 2016, committing $150 million in New York City funding for major improvements at five large parks throughout the city, including Highbridge Park in Manhattan.
The funding breakdown between the five parks meant that $30 million was pledged for Highbridge Park. Additionally, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez has contributed $600,000 to the park that stretches from West 155th Street to Dyckman Street, and the New York City Parks Department also received a grant for $500,000 to go to the Upper Manhattan park as well.
