Community Board 12 Votes on Liquor, Wine Licenses for Washington Heights, Inwood Businesses
See which businesses had license applications granted and rejected.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-INWOOD, NY — Community Board 12, which represents Washington Heights and Inwood, met in June to — among other things — make its recommendations to the State Liquor Authority on which neighborhood establishments should receive liquor licenses.
Without a liquor license a businesses cannot serve any form of hard alcoholic beverage. For certain businesses serving liquor can be very profitable. For other business, such as bars and liquor stores, a liquor license is essential.

The Community Board also decided on recommendations for wine and beer licenses and enclosed café licenses.

- Resolution to renew on-premises liquor license to Café Sahara Inc. – 4026 10th Avenue — failed 8-22-1-0.
- Resolution to renew on-premises liquor license to Mamajuana Café – 243 to 249 Dyckman Street — passed 22-7-2-0.
- Recommendation to renew on-premises liquor license to La Nueva España — 606 West 207th Street — passed 27-4-1-0.
- Recommendation to renew on-premises liquor license to Corcho Wine Room – 227 Dyckman Street — passed 24-6-1-0.
- Resolution to renew restaurant wine license to Grito Mexican Grill — 2555 St. Nicholas Avenue (corner of West 188th Street). passed 26-4-1-0.
- Resolution to recommend an alteration to existing method of operation to Café Sahara Inc. — failed 9-21-1-0.
- Resolution to recommend an alteration to existing method of operation to Mamajuana Café — 243 to 249 Dyckman Street — passed 17-12-2-0.
- Resolution to grant a new enclosed sidewalk café license to Maja’s Tapas Restaurant Bar Inc. — 229 Dyckman Street — failed 10-21-0-0.
