WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Cafe Bark was never your typical New York City eatery. Instead, the business at 833 West 181st Street in the heart of Washington Heights branded itself as a "dog-friendly cafe bar pet boutique," where both you and your dog were welcome to come in and pick out a baked good treat.

After three years of business in the neighborhood, Cafe Bark announced Tuesday on Instagram that it is permanently closing.

"It’s been a great journey and we are extremely grateful for everyone," owners of the cafe wrote on Instagram. "Please be safe and stay tuned for our next chapter!"

It also offers baked goods "for our furry friends."

"Café Bark was born from the desire to express love for our furry companions," owners of the cafe wrote in an About section on its website. "They give us so much and ask so little. For Patricia, Stephanie and Chris, our four-legged kids deserve so much, so this little space is dedicated to Petunia, Channel and Gunther. Come share this with us and help carve out our little corner of doggie heaven."
