Fire Breaks Out In Fort George Hours After Inwood Blaze

Hours after an Inwood blaze on Monday, a second Upper Manhattan building fire left a resident with serious injuries, according to FDNY.

FORT GEORGE, NY — A fire broke out in a Fort George building Monday hours after different flames tore through a home in Inwood, according to the FDNY.

The second Upper Manhattan blaze ignited at 7:47 p.m. on the second and third floor of a six-story building at 35 Hillside Avenue in Fort George, according to the FDNY.

An FDNY spokesperson told Patch that it took 60 firefighters to put the flames out in a little under an hour.

However, there was one serious but not life-threatening injury to one of the building's residents, according to the FDNY.

The Fort George fire broke out five hours after a different blaze ignited around 3:15 p.m. on two floors of a five-story residential Inwood building at 184 Nagle Avenue.

The Inwood fire took over 100 firefighters to put out and two residents had minor injuries, according to the FDNY.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
