WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-INWOOD, NY — New York is the home to the best pizza in the United States, and don't let anyone tell you differently. So why on earth would anyone living in New York ever order pizza from one of the big chains? Leave that to the suburbanites. Patch checked out what your fellow New Yorkers had to say on Yelp to determine where you should be grabbing a slice in Washington Heights-Inwood.

Pizza Palace — 121 Dyckman Street.

Bruce M, of Brooklyn, said: "9 times out of 10 when I walk into a pizzeria and there is an old Italian guy behind the counter im in for some good pizza. The pizza palace on Dyckman was no exception. the first thing I noticed about the place was that old New York pizza shop feel that that you dont get in more tourist friendly areas of the city."

Como Pizza — 4035 Broadway

Yelper Fred P said: "Conveniently located right next to the stairs of the 168th street stop, this was my go-to pizza place in Washington Heights. The 2 cheese slices for $4 is a great deal to get a filling meal for cheap. I have tried pepperoni, bacon, sausage, mushroom, and spinach, but the plain cheese is my favorite. The employees have always been nice here as well. I'll be sure to grab a slice or two the next time I'm in the area."

Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza — 4973 Broadway

Mary D was surprised by the quality: "Pizza was really good better than anticipated. We had spaghetti meat sauce and it was good as well. I definitely will stop by here again."
