Inwood Film Festival 2020: What You Need To Know
The festival has announced dates and details for this year, including a new fund to help local filmmakers with their movies.
INWOOD, NY — The Inwood Film Festival has announced the dates and details about its fifth year returning to the neighborhood, including a new fund that will help local filmmakers make their movies.
The festival, led by nonprofit Inwood Art Works, will be held March 13 through 15 at the Campbell Sports Center, where it has been held since 2017, organizers announced this week.
The festival has grown in popularity and the number of films it's featured each year, and organizers said they expect its milestone fifth year to be no different.

The fund gave financial help to five filmmakers this year — Adam Elliott, Desiree Abeyta, Seamus Boyle, Ellen Mullen and Brian Mihok — to help fund their film projects and expenses between September 2019 and August 2020. Each filmmaker was given up to $5,000, organizers said.
The grant winners will join a group of filmmakers who submitted their works between October and Jan. 15.
Last year, the festival chose 33 films to show across its four categories, Shorts Shorts, Long Shorts, Student Films and Feature Films. Each film must be made in the neighborhood or by past and present residents of Uptown NYC.
The festival will kick off on March 13 with an Opening Night Benefit with a special presentation of the Past, Present, and Future of the Inwood Film Festival with award-winning short films, special guest interviews and presentations from recipients of the Inwood Filmmaker Fund, organizers said.
Organizers plan to announce the film selections for the festival on Feb. 17 and will show all films chosen throughout Saturday and Sunday of the festival weekend.
Tickets for the opening night benefit festival passes are now available online and single tickets will go on sale Feb. 18.
