Inwood, Wash Heights ZIP Code Named Coronavirus Hotspot: Cuomo
Gov. Andrew Cuomo named an Upper Manhattan ZIP code as one of 20 new coronavirus hotspots in New York.
UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo named a ZIP code that covers both Inwood and Washington Heights as one of 20 coronavirus hotspots in the state of New York.
The 10040 ZIP code, which goes from roughly West 187th Street in Washington Heights to Dyckman Street in Inwood, had seven positive coronavirus cases on Tuesday.
"Almost a quarter of yesterday's positive cases were from just 20 hotspot ZIP codes," Cuomo tweeted Wednesday. "We are targeting these clusters immediately to prevent community spread. If you live in one of these ZIP codes, treat this seriously."

Here are Tuesday's statistics for the Upper Manhattan ZIP code:

The Inwood and Washington Heights ZIP code was the lone Manhattan area to get featured on the list of 20 New York hotspots.

Of the 20 New York ZIP codes with the highest positivity rates, Rockland County and Kings County accounted for the top nine.
Cuomo's warning to residents in the hotspot ZIP codes comes after Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday that the city's daily coronavirus positive rate ticked above 3 percent for the first time since June.
New York City's coronavirus positive rate fell back under 1 percent on Wednesday.
