UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — The race to replace Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez in Upper Manhattan is on, and a leading candidate just landed a major endorsement.
Assembly Member Carmen De La Rosa, a candidate for City Council District 10, announced on Tuesday an endorsement from State Senator Jessica Ramos.
While Ramos is a representative in Queens, not Manhattan, the state senator has risen in prominence across the city in the last year. It's one of the most significant endorsements anyone in the candidate field for the Upper Manhattan City Council spot has received.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of Senator Ramos. Jessica and I have fought together to empower the working class in Albany and I will continue to fight the good fight downtown in City Hall," De La Rosa said in a news release. "We are legislators that put our communities and our people at the center of our advocacy. From Jackson Heights to Washington Heights, we must deliver rent relief and support our small businesses as we combat COVID-19."
De La Rosa adds Ramos' endorsement to a list that already includes NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, NYS Assembly Member Karines Reyes, and multiple labor unions.
