Man Arrested In Connection To Wash Heights Hammer Attack: NYPD

The New York Police Department arrested a Bronx man in connection to a hammer attack that recently took place in Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The New York Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a recent hammer attack within a Washington Heights train station.

The NYPD arrested Bronx resident Jose Moreno, 47, on two counts of assault.

A 46-year-old man was standing inside the 175th Street "A" train station at 11 a.m. on Sunday when a man ran up behind him and hit him in the head with a hammer, according to police.

The victim fled to the booth clerk window within the station for safety, and the attacker ran out of the station, police said.

The 46-year-old received brief treatment for head pain within the station, but refused further medical attention, according to police.

The seemingly unprovoked hammer attack came three days after a woman was robbed within an Inwood "1" train station in Inwood.
