Man Pretends To Be Police Officer In Washington Heights Robbery

The NYPD is looking for a man who impersonated a police officer before robbing a 75-year-old in Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is looking for a man who pretended to be a police officer before robbing a 75-year-old in Washington Heights.

The robbery happened on Jan. 8 at 9:15 a.m. near a building at 3959 Broadway, between 165th and 166th Street, according to police.

The deceptive robber approached the 75-year-old man and told him that he was a police offer and to "hand over the drugs," according to the NYPD.

The fake officer then reached into the older adult's back pocket and removed $600 in cash, police said.

Police released a photo Thursday of a man wanted in connection to the incident.
