In September, police found Nystrom insider her Inwood apartment with stab wounds and bruising to the face and body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death shocked the Upper Manhattan community, and one friend and neighbor has decided to start a Facebook page so "that her memory never be lost."

"Due to Covid-19, we have been unable to hold a public memorial for Carol Nystrom," Chase wrote in the Facebook page. "I have started this page so that her memory never be lost and we can share our stories on how you met and knew Carol best."

"Please post a picture or write a tribute so that those that knew her can share to the world what a beautiful person she was and the love she to those who expected it," Chase added. "She will be truly missed. Hope your dancing in heaven Carol, we love you."

Nystrom's ashes were recently scattered on a beach with wild ponies in Virginia, according to Chase.
