Police Identify New Jersey Woman Recovered From Hudson River in Upper Manhattan

Port Authority police have identified a woman who's body was recovered Wednesday from the Hudson River.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Port Authority police identified a woman whose body was recovered Wednesday from the Hudson River.

Catherine Hughes of Clifton, New Jersey, jumped Wednesday night from the George Washington Bridge, Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo told Patch. Hughes' body was recovered by Port Authority police from the Hudson River at 7:05 p.m and later transported to the Dyckman Street Pier. Police pronounced her dead at the pier, Port Authority officials said.

The recovery of Hughes' body from the Hudson River is the second this week. On Thursday, a missing student's body was found when police responded to a report of a body washed ashore near the George Washington Bridge.

The body was confirmed to be Patrick Healey, a senior mathematics major at New York University. Healey, originally from Danbury, Connecticut, was in the city for a summer internship, said NYU spokesman John Beckman.

Police have not yet determined the cause of death for Healey.
