When Will Prospect Park's Cherry Blossoms Bloom In 2019?

Here's everything you need to know about Prospect Park's cherry blossom trees.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — As the weather warms up in New York City, Prospect Park's cherry blossoms are getting ready to bloom, but they're not here yet.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden's esplanade of cherry blossom trees have yet to bloom, but garden officials are keeping a close eye on the pink harbingers of spring, a spokeswoman told Patch.

As soon as those blossoms bloom, the BBG and Patch will spread the word. Until then, here's what you need to know:

Where To Track Progress:

BBG officials will keep Brooklynites posted on the Cherry Blossom Tracker, which shows the flowers had yet to bloom as of March 25.

Where To See The Blossoms:

The promenade of cherry blossoms can be found inside the Brooklyn Botanic Garden at 990 Washington Ave. on the northeastern side of the park.

Take the 2/3 trains to Eastern Parkway - Brooklyn Museum station, the B/Q to the Prospect Park station or the Brooklyn shuttle to the Botanic Garden station.

When to Go:

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be open:

  • From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
  • Until 8 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. on specific Twilight Tuesdays.
  • From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

What About The Festival?

Sakura Matsuri, the BBG's annual Cherry Blossom festival, is slated to take place on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28.

Tickets are for sale on the garden website and cost $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and students with ID, and nothing for kids under 12 and garden members.
