Trans-Manhattan Expressway Ramp to Shut Down This Weekend
Drivers will be unable to connect from the George Washington bridge to the Harlem River Drive in Washington Heights.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A key crosstown route that cuts through Washington Heights will be shut down for repairs during the upcoming weekend.
The southbound connector ramp of the Trans-Manhattan Expressway Ramp — which connects the George Washington Bridge to the Harlem River Drive — will be closed from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Monday, according to the city Department of Transportation (DOT).
Drivers who want to head downtown when getting off the George Washington Bridge should either merge from the bridge to the Henry Hudson Parkway or cross the Alexander Hamilton Bridge to connect to the Major Deegan Expressway, the DOT recommends.

If you want to access the Harlem River Drive this weekend, do not take the George Washington Bridge. Drivers should instead take the Macombs Dam Bridge, Madison Avenue Bridge or Third Avenue Bridge, according to the DOT.
