Uptown Democrats Club Announces List Of Endorsements For 2021
From Bragg to Benjamin to Williams, here's who the Uptown Community Democrats endorsed for the 2021 New York City elections.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — The full swing of the 2021 New York City election cycle is almost upon us, and a prominent democratic club in Upper Manhattan just announced its slate of endorsements.
The Uptown Community Democrats calls itself a progressive democratic club with the goal of improving the quality of political representation in Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill.
The club endorsed five candidates in anticipation of the June 22nd Democratic Party Primary. However, the club's members weren't able to decide who it would endorse for mayor, as no clear winner emerged in its ranked-choice voting structure.

Here's who the Uptown Community Democrats endorsed:
- Manhattan District Attorney: Alvin Bragg
- NYC Comptroller: Brian Benjamin
- Public Adovacate: Jumaane Williams
- Manhattan Borough President: Brad Hoylman
- City Council District 7: Dan Cohen
- City Council District 10: Johanna Garcia (Previously announced in a vote last year.)
In terms of the mayor's endorsement, after several rounds of ranked-choice voting, a majority of club members voted not to endorse a candidate for the city's highest office. However, there was significant support for non-profit executive Dianne Morales among the group.

The Uptown Community Democrats has three overarching goals in its work:
- To improve the quality of political representation of Northern Manhattan.
- To support and run candidates for elected office.
- To work toward the education, freedom, happiness, health, wealth, and security of the people of Northern Manhattan.
