Wash Heights Free COVID-19 Testing Site Delivers Same Day Results

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Unpleasant tales about New Yorkers having to wait weeks to receive their COVID-19 test results have been consistent throughout the pandemic, but a collection of COVID Express sites are looking to speed up the process.

COVID Express sites allow you to schedule a free rapid COVID-19 test and get results back within 24 hours, with most patients receiving their tests back on the same day as their visit.

Additionally, the tests are free and available to all New Yorkers regardless of immigration status.

After your test, you can get your results by creating a MyChart account on the New York Health Department's website, but a clinic member will also call you directly with your results.

The high-efficiency testing clinic has two Manhattan locations, and one of the sites is in Washington Heights.

The Upper Manhattan, COVID Express site, is located at 600 West 168th Street.

Testing is available by appointment only, and the fastest way to secure yourself a time is through an online scheduler that the New York Health Department provides on its website. If you do not see any appointments for the Washington Heights location, it means the clinic is fully booked for the day. You should check back in later for more available appointments.

The other Manhattan COVID Express site is in Chelsea, while there is also a location in Queens.
