Wash Heights Precinct Warns Locals About Thieves Targeting Revels
The 34th Precinct sent out a warning Wednesday about an increase in Revel scooters in the neighborhood getting targeted for their parts.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The police precinct for Inwood and Washington Heights wants people to stay attentive for anyone stealing parts from Revels and other electric scooters in the neighborhood.
There has been an increase in the type of theft across the city, and in the two uptown Manhattan neighborhoods, according to police.

In the past few days, multiple police precincts have sent our warnings about thieves targeting Revel scooters for their parts. The battery of one of the scooters is worth roughly $1,500, according to police.

"We work closely with the NYPD and precincts across New York City to address incidents involving the tampering of Revel mopeds," Revel said in a statement to the NY Post. "Our work with local authorities, including the notice shared by the NYPD 77th Precinct on Twitter, aims to encourage community members to report any crimes they may see."

Revel relaunched in the city at the end of August after the service was forced to shut down due to a high-profile string of fatal crashes and increased scrutiny on its safety record.
