Wash Heights ZIP Code Passes 6% Virus Rate — Highest In Borough
Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday that the city's Test & Trace Corps staff will be canvassing in Washington Heights for the day.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Upper Manhattan is still showing the highest coronavirus rates in the borough. During his daily press conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city's Test & Trace Corps staff will be canvassing Washington Heights on Tuesday, along with three other neighborhoods in Manhattan.
The city's most recently available data shows the weekly testing average from Nov 28 to Dec. 4, and the positivity rates in Washington Heights and Inwood are rising.
Specifically, the 10040 ZIP code — which includes the northern section of Washington Heights and the southern section of Inwood — had a percent positive rate of 6.05.

It was the highest coronavirus positive rate in Manhattan during the week and the only ZIP code in the borough over 6 percent.
It was trailed only marginally by Upper Manhattan's 10034 ZIP code, which had a 5.99 percent positive rate.

The most recent data for the coronavirus rates in Upper Manhattan shows a surge in three out of the four ZIP codes.

The average for the most recent week in the four ZIP codes is 5.4 percent, compared with the 3.96 percent average rate between Nov. 21 and 27.
Staff from Test & Trace Corps, a public health initiative to fight the threat of COVID-19, will be in the neighborhood Tuesday handing out masks and providing support to people who have already tested positive for the virus.
The current yellow zone, which puts added restrictions on businesses, stretches from West 137th Street to 187th Street.
