Washington Heights Community Organizations to Host 'Shredfest' Wednesday

The event is being sponsored by the 33rd Precinct and two other Washington Heights organizations.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — If you have something that needs to be shredded, head to the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation on Wednesday.

The Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation — with co-sponsors the 33rd NYPD Precinct and the Washington Heights & Inwood Development Corporation — will shred any documents you bring them Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be located on Wadsworth Avenue & West 175 Street, said Ebenezer Smith, district manager for Community Board 12. Parking on the block will be suspended for the event.

Shredding documents such as bank statements, bills, old credit and debit cards can help protect against identify theft. Simply throwing these documents out can lead to valuable, personal information ending up in the wrong hands.
