NYPD Looking For Man Who Killed A Woman In Her Inwood Apartment

UPDATE: Police are searching for a man who stabbed and killed a woman in Inwood, after initial reports said a gun was involved.

INWOOD, NY — After an initial report from police that a 44-year-old woman was shot and killed Thursday afternoon In Inwood, the NYPD has updated its information to say that a stabbing and assault led to her death, not a gunshot.

Police are now looking for a man in connection to the woman's death within her apartment at 420 West 206th Street.

NYPD has identified the man as Joshua Martinez, a 33-year-old man, 5-feet, six inches, 165 pounds, last seen wearing a New York Yankees jersey. He routinely hangs out in the surrounding neighborhood, according to police.

Police found the woman inside her apartment on Thursday, with stab wounds and bruising to the face and body, according to police. This is different then the initial report police sent out that she had gunshot wounds.

EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.

The incident could have happened sometime between Sunday and Thursday, police said.
