Greenwich Village Bar Named 10th Best In The World
The Lower Manhattan watering hole was also the highest-ranking bar in the United States, according to the annual list of the world's best.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Katana Kitten in Greenwich Village was just named the 10th best bar in the world by the annual World's 50 Best Bars ranking.
The coveted list ranked the Lower Manhattan watering hole at 531 Hudson Street as the best bar in the United States.
It's a jump for Katana Kitten in the annual ranking as it improved six spots from its 2020 ranking of 16th best in the world. It also leapfrogged the routinely celebrated fellow Greenwich Village watering hole, Dante, which dropped from the No. 2 bar in the world in 2020 to the No. 30.

Here's what the authors of the ranking had to say about Katana Kitten:
"Katana Kitten is the digs of bartending’s greatest smile, the Japanese New Yorker Masahiro Urushido, who, off the back of pedigreed postings at some of the Big Apple’s best bars, created a very particular, personal venue with the backing of James Tune and Greg Boehm," the World's 50 Best Bars wrote. "In essence, this Greenwich Village bar is a hybrid concept – half American dive, half Japanese highball bar, with the sort of quality-focused offering yet everyman vibes that magnetize off-shift bartenders."'
