Baymen Fall to Smithtown East
Baymen lose to Smithtown East 67-53. They will look to rebound in upcoming game against Center Moriches

Thursday, Dec. 9 marked the second tough game in three days for the Baymen. They lost in a triple over time thriller against Shoreham/Wading River on Tuesday.
During Thursday's game, Hampton Bays came out flat in the first quarter, being out scored 24-7 by non-league opponent, the Bulls of Smithtown East.
After their early struggles, the Baymen came out with a solid effort on the defensive end in quarter number two, holding the Bulls to only ten points while putting in 11. They managed to narrow the Bull's lead to 34-18 at halftime.

After halftime, both teams came out scoring with a combination of good shooting and court vision and during the third, the Baymen started off with a 9-2 run narrowing Smithtown's lead from 16 points to 9 within a matter of minutes.
Near the end of the third quarter; however, Smithtown was able to get some easy buckets to help balloon their lead back to 13 points going into the fourth.

To finish the game, the Bulls were able to edge the Baymen 19-18, giving them a 67-53 victory.
In light of the Hampton Bays loss, there were some bright spots for the Baymen squad.
Senior Cameron Booth had a stellar effort shooting 4-11 from two point range and 4-7 from three, giving him a total of 25 points out of the Baymen's 53. Booth also notched one assist and three rebounds for an overall solid performance.
Also Chipping in was Justin Carbone, who added 10 points, two assists, six rebounds, two steals and 13 points.
Luke Mercurio provided one assist and five rebounds.
"You choose your non-league opponents for a reason, you don't want to just go out their and roll the other team, you want to face tough teams that make you better and prepare you." said Baymen coach Pete Meehan after the game. " We will work on our defense first and foremost, we always try to be better then we were the game before." he added when talking about the preparation for the upcoming game versus league rival Center Moriches.
Kicking off the league schedule, the Baymen will face-off against rival Center Moriches at home on Dec. 17.
"Injuries will be key. If we stay healthy, we will be a contender in League seven," said Meehan in reference to the team's playoff chances this year.
