Baymen Lose to Panthers 34-7

Hampton Bays Baymen are now 4-4 in the league.

On Friday night, the Hampton Bays Baymen football team lost to the Babylon Panthers, 34-7.  On Babylon home field, fans of the Baymen kept warm in the cold and windy weather, cheering on their home team.  The Baymen are now 4-4 in the league; Babylon is 6-2.

The beginning of the first quarter looked promising for the Baymen.  Standing at fourth and goal, a pass to wide receiver, Paul Warren, was stopped at the 1-yard line.  The Baymen's defense, led by Igor Leite, successfully held back Babylon for the first quarter, ending at 0-0.  At 8:03 into the second quarter, Babylon running back Trevor Fudim, scored the first touch down of the night on an 8-yard run.  The extra point kick was good, making the score 7-0.

A Hampton Bays punt for over 40 yards, put Babylon back to their own 17 yard line. It seemed that the Baymen had a chance of holding Babylon back.  However, on the first play from scrimmage, Fudim found a way through their defense; scoring another touchdown on an 83-yard run.  Not long after that, Fudim scored again; now leading the Baymen 20-0 by halftime.

The second half continued the trend of the first, with Babylon's wide receiver, Nahari Jenkins, scoring on a 3-yard run.  Now with 9:00 left in the third quarter, and the score 27-0, it appeared unlikely the Baymen would make a comeback.  They held Babylon enough for those remaining 9 minutes to prevent them from scoring again.

With 7:22 left to go in the fourth quarter, Babylon scored their final touchdown of the night with a pass to wide receiver Stephen Loudon.  Now leading the Baymen 34-0, Hampton Bays wasn't going to go out without points on the board.  They came together with 1:04 left as wide receiver, Dylan Flyn, scored a touchdown on an impressive 39-yard run.  With the final score 34-7, both teams walked across the field, maintaining sportsmanship and congratulating each other on a good game.
