Car Found Submerged In Westhampton Beach Canal: FD

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A car was found almost fully submerged in a Westhampton Beach creek early Monday morning, fire officials said.
According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, a call for a water rescue in the Moniebogue Canal south of Main Street came in at 7:01 a.m.
Third Assistant Chief Larry Saccente, who was first to arrive at the scene, reported an almost fully submerged car in the water. The occupants, who were able to escape through the front windows, were in the nearby parking lot, fire officials said.

The department responded with a rescue truck, an engine, and the rescue boat; the boat’s crew was able to secure a cable to the Kia SUV and a wrecker was able to haul the car ashore, officials said.
In addition to the fire department the Westhampton Beach Police Department, the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance, and the Westhampton Beach Village DPW responded to the scene.

There were no reports of injuries, officials said.
