Coast Guard Comes To Rescue Of Boat Taking On Water Sunday

BREAKING: The boaters flagged down a Coast Guard boat as their vessel began taking on water, the Coast Guard says.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — The Coast Guard assisted three mariners after their boat began taking on water in Moriches Bay on Sunday, authorities said.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a report from Station Shinnecock stating that one of their 29-foot response boat-smalls, or RBS, was flagged down by boaters on a 21-foot vessel that was taking on water, the Coast Guard said.

The RBS boat crew assisted the mariners with dewatering efforts and safely towed the vessel up the Forge River to the owner's residence, the USCG said.
