REMSENBURG, NY — The community is opening its arms and hearts to care for a young girl facing a health challenge.

A GoFundMe page, "Support Fund for Grace 'The Storm' Guerra" was created by a fundraising team in support of Susie Mancuso Guerra.

"To all our friends and family, our close friends the Guerras have recently found out that their 12-year old daughter Gracie has a tumor in her spine," the page said. "Without getting into the technical terms of the diagnosis . . . we are focusing on the positive energy and strength that she has been radiating for those surrounding her. She has been nothing but a ray of sunshine and has left each hospital's staff is awe of her spirit."

Organizers said when times are challenging, neighbors come together: "We, as a small community, know its takes a village and we want to be there for her and her family. Her mom, dad and brother have been staying with her at the hospital and have recently moved into a hotel closer to the treatment center in New Jersey," the page said.

Her family has been following a strict diet of organic supplements and she has another four-plus weeks of treatments, the page said.
