Friends Rally For Man Recovering From Cancer Surgery

Even facing his greatest battle, rent and bills need to be paid, and friends are pitching in to help.

EAST QUOGUE, NY — An East End man facing his greatest battle has learned that when life is dark, friends can shine a light of hope.

Jason Turner reached out for help with a GoFundMe page, "Jason's Cancer Survivor Fund."

In 2008, Turner said he was diagnosed with colon cancer, which was treated with surgery and chemo.

And then came the news that no one should have to hear: "I learned that the colon cancer has returned, and it is aggressive," he said.

In addition, Turner said he has genetic condition called “Lynch syndrome,” which makes him susceptible to colon and other cancers.

Due to the cancer's recurrence, Turner had again, with his entire colon removed and biopsied.

After the surgery, Turner was forced to miss weeks of work and needs assistance with funds to help pay rent, medical, and hospital bills while he recovers from the major surgery, he said.

"Insurance isn't covering everything. Anything you can afford would be greatly appreciated," Turner said.
