Hampton Bays High School Evacuated Due To "Strong Gas Odor"

The odor was detected at 11 a.m. Thursday morning. Students are being relocated to the Middle School.

At approximately 12:00pm, The Hampton Bays Fire Department cleared the Hampton Bays High School at 12 p.m. after conducting an investigation, according to a message on the school’s website.

Students are returning to the high school and will resume their regularly scheduled day.

Hampton Bays High School was evacuated Thursday morning due to a strong gas odor, according to a message on the school’s website.

The odor was detected at approximately 11 a.m.

According to the school’s website, students were immediately evacuated from the Argonne Road building.

Both The Hampton Bays Fire Department and the Southampton Town Fire Marshal are on the scene investigating the situation.

“ As a safety precaution, high school students are being relocated to Hampton Bays Middle School in accordance with our District Safety Plan,” the message on the website reads. “Further updates will be available on this website and our school Facebook when they are available.”
