Hampton Bays High School Robotics Team Earns Second Place at Regional Competition
The competition took place from March 26 to 28.

The Hampton Bays High School Robotics team came in second place at the Long Island Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition against the 51 teams competing.
The team earned the recognition during competitions from March 26 to 28, held at Hofstra University, by forming alliances with two other schools, including one from Israel.
The team had worked over the past six weeks to design and program their robot with just 15 team members.

The average robotics team has 30 or more teammates.
According to the competition website, “the FIRST Robotics Competition is a national program that challenges teams of students and their mentors to design and build a 130 pound robot in a six-week timeframe using a standard “kit of parts” and a common set of rules.”

The three-day event was also a showcase of the abilities of the future engineers, programmers and electricians.
