Hampton Bays School District to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Athletic Complex

The new complex will be named after School Board President Doug Oakland who passed away this summer.

The Hampton Bays School District will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new state-of-the-art athletic complex, which will be named after former School Board President Doug Oakland, who passed away this summer.

The ceremony will take place on Friday from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Hampton Bays High School Athletic Complex located on 88 East Argonne Road.

Oakland was the owner of the Oakland’s Restaurant and Marina on Dune Road.

“Mr. Oakland was instrumental in the passage of the 2012 bond referendum, which brought this athletic complex to fruition,” Superintendent of Schools Lars Clemensen said. “It is only fitting that we memorialize him in this way.”

The new athletic complex, which took three years took construct, will include full renovations to the district’s track, soccer, field hockey and lacrosse fields, as well as its football facility.

Following the ceremony, the Baymen will play their first home game versus John Glenn High School.
