Man Drove Drunk With BAC More Than 2X Legal Limit: Cops

He's facing felony charges, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was cuffed after he was caught driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit, police said.

According to New York State Police, Georgios Kaniaris, 62, was arrested on March 27 at 6 p.m. after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Sunrise Highway near Exit 64 in East Quogue.

Upon further investigation, Kaniaris was found to be intoxicated with a BAC of .20%, police said. The legal BAC is .08%.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony, and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, and was held for morning arraignment at Southampton Justice Court, police said.
