Man Makes 'Terroristic Threat' Against Westhampton Police: PD

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A Westhampton Beach man was charged with making a "terroristic threat" against police officers on Wednesday, police said.
David Krouse, 63, of Montauk Highway, was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat, police said. He is slated for arraignment Thursday at Westhampton Beach Village Justice Court.
According to Westhampton Beach Village Police, at 3 p.m., Southampton Town Police received a call, intended for the Westhampton Beach Police Department, from a man who was agitated and "made a threat of violence" against Westhampton Beach police.

In response to the call, Westhampton Beach Village Hall, which houses the police department, was evacuated, police said.
Members of the Westhampton Beach Police Department's criminal investigations unit and Southampton Town Police worked together to arrest Krouse, police said.

"Some good detective work brought quick results," said Westhampton Beach Village Mayor Maria Moore.
Also in Westhampton, spray-painted graffiti threatening police officers and their families was found in Westhampton in January, police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police detectives are asking for the public's help to identify and locate whoever spray-painted the threats, including the words "Cops Will Be Shot," "WHBPD=Death," "Poor>Rich," "Cops Wives Get Shot 2," and "Shoot Cops 4 Fun."
The incident was reported at 9 a.m. on January 27, and the words were likely spray-painted within the prior day, police said.
The graffiti was found both on the sidewalk along South Road near Beaver Dam Creek, and also on the yellow center lines of Baycrest Avenue near Bishop Avenue, police said.
