Police: Westhampton Man Arrested For Driving Drunk, Drug Possession

A Westhampton man was arrested for driving drunk and drug possession in Southold on Sunday morning, according to Southold Town Police.

Peter R. Ethier, 24, was pulled over on Route 25 and Jasmine Lane shortly before 3:30 a.m. after he was seen crossing the double yellow and white lines, police said.

He had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, blood-shot glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet, according to police.

He failed the standardized field sobriety tests and a pre-screen breath test administered by the officer, police said.

Police noticed strong odor of marijuana and further investigation uncovered marijuana and a controlled substance (concentrated cannabis), according to police.

Ethier was arrested and transported to headquarters for morning arraignment.
