Popular Boom Burger in Westhampton Beach Opens Second Location in Mattituck

BREAKING: The owners and friends worked at a former burger joint that also had locations at the same two sites in Westhampton and Mattituck.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A popular Westhampton Beach burger joint will be opening a new location in Mattituck on the North Fork, possibly as soon as before Christmas.

Boom Burger is readying to open in the Mattituck Shopping Plaza, at the site where Greek Bites, which closed in August, was most recently located.

Boom Burger, owned by friends Anthony Catanzaro and Anthony Cicogna, has a popular location on Montauk Highway in Westhampton Beach.

"We are opening in Mattituck, optimistically before Christmas," the pair told Patch Wednesday. "We're so happy to be here."

Both Boom Burgers are located in the same two spots in Mattituck and Westhampton Beach where the two locations of Big City Burgers and Atomic Wings were sited before closing. Catanzaro and Cicogna said their business has "no relation to Big City Burgers."

However, they said, both used to work for the owner of Big City Burgers when it was open.

The popular Boom Burger first opened in Westhampton Beach in 2012.

Since the business, owned opened, the duo have been creating burger combos weekly to surprise their customers – who are encouraged to give a loud “BOOM” when they walk through the doors, sometimes leading to free food.

Some creations have included a burger they named the '"Slinky". Inside the bun is a fresh beef patty topped with cheese and a fried egg. Then, there was the Doom Burger, topped with mac and cheese and chili.

"We work 16 and 14-hour shifts and when we sit down at night, we come up with new combinations and names for our burgers," said Cicogna.

The pair said they started the business after working at Big City Burger and quickly became friends with a vision — open their own burger shop.

It wasn't long before they had the keys in their hand and got to work, creating a menu featuring their own sauces and all fresh ingredients, including vegetables from local farmstands.

Remembering back, Catanzaro said they didn't even have enough money to buy paint for the walls, so they decided to instead plaster the walls with comics.

But Catanzaro and Cicogna know it isn't what's on the walls that keep their customers coming back, it is their extensive menu that includes everything from the "Not Hungry Any More Man" breakfast platter, to 14 flavors of wings, veggie burgers and wraps, burgers, hot dogs and salads all made to order, as well as sides, including mac and cheese, onion rings, and sweet potato fries. Not to mention a dessert menu that features deep fried Oreos, Nutella sandwiches and milk shakes.
