Quogue To Ease Up On Trash Can Law

A public hearing will be held on Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.

The Village of Quogue has slated Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. for a public hearing on a proposed law that will allow residents to place their trash cans outside on the day of trash collection, but as close as reasonably practical to the building, according to Mayor Peter Sartorius.

Currently, the Quogue village code requires that trash cans must remain out of sight.

Also on Feb. 15, the village is considering amending its code to allow for the placement of free-standing basketball hoops on a driveway, but the hoop itself would have to meet applicable setback requirements, according to Sartorius.

Under current law, hoops are only allowed if they are attached to a home or garage.
