- The Hamptons were among the Long Island areas to be under a tornado warning Saturday. Damage was widespread. (News 12)
- News 12 reminds us that it's the last day to take advantage of Long Island Restaurant Week. Union Sushi & Steak in Southampton has a marinated skirt steak inside a sushi roll, called the Union Roll, that also has lobster and avocado inside and a famous bao bun with barbecue cut pork loin and crispy onions. - Ever wonder what the historic military vehicles you see around the Hamptons are? East Hampton VFW Post 550, Dayton-Soehlke-Ohlhorst Veterans Memorial VFW Post 5350 in Westhampton Beach and Francis S. - The Southampton Town Police Department will hold a civilian academy program beginning Jan. 26. The academy will run for 14 weeks, one night per week, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Southampton Town Police Headquarters in Hampton Bays. Classes will cover: laws of arrest, search and seizure, use of force, driving while intoxicated, narcotics enforcement, domestic violence, investigations and gangs. Students have the option of riding along with police officers for a tour of duty and attending a demonstration at the police firearms range and emergency vehicle operations course. (RiverheadLOCAL)
