Village Clerk: Summer Rental Fee Collections on the Rise

Rebecca Molinaro, Westhampton Beach Village clerk, says fees have nearly doubled this season.

On Monday evening, Rebecca Molinaro, Westhampton Beach Village clerk, reported that due to the village's new summer rental fee structure, the village has doubled it's money.

Last season, Molinaro said, the village issued 61 permits, collecting $6,100 compared to this season where the village realized $14,500 after issuing 64 permits.

"By changing the fee structure we have more than doubled our money," said Molinaro.

In January, the village board voted to increase it's rental fees, agreeing that Westhampton Beach's fees were below the average of nearby municipalities.

Previously charging $100 per summer rental permit, the board amended it's fee structure to require those that rent for 30 days or less to pay $150 and those who rent for over 30 days to pay  $250.
