Westhampton Beach High School Senior Named Scholar Athlete

Congratulations to Keira Kelly!

Keira Kelly, a senior at Westhampton Beach High School, was recently named a Scholar Athlete by News 12 Long Island.

Kelly, who was nominated for the award by Kathy Masterson, Athletic Director for the Westhampton Beach School District, received the honor for her dedication to her studies, as well as her athletic abilities.

“The award took me my surprise. I am extremely honored,” said Kelly, who is a high jumper in the school’s track program.

Masterson said Kelly is truly worthy of the award.

“She is a great kid and we can see her going all the way to the state championships this year.”

Kelly has been participating in track since the 7th grade and has been recognized as an all-county and all-league athlete.

She has also gone undefeated in duel meets with her highest jump record standing at 5-feet, six inches.

In addition to participating in track, Kelly is also a four-year member of the Westhampton Beach High School golf team.

She is also a member of the national and science national honor societies, rotary and interact clubs, a student member of the Hurricane Educational Foundation.

She is also in the local junior ambulance program.
